BRIEF HISTORY OF LOS ANGELES

You can't say that you know a city without knowing its history, which can be sometimes something interesting to find out even in the city itself.

This city was long inhabited by various American Indian tribes. The first Europeans arrived in the area in 1542, led by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo. The area of Los Angeles was, like the entire state of California was included in the mid-16th century in the Viceroyalty of New Spain. On September 4, 1784 the city of Los Angeles was proclaimed as a town with a total of 44 inhabitants and with the name of The People of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels. For many years that area was like a ranch where everyone lived around. In 1821, it became independent from the colonists of Castile, but soon after it became part of Mexico, which was invading the entire southern United States.

In 1848, after several wars between Mexico and the United States, by treaty, it became part of the latter.

At first, it was an important place because of its oil reserves although, after World War II, it began to be better known for its music and film production, which caused many people to move there, leading to considerably population growth.
